Concern for Teens Prompts Second Prescription-Drug Take Back Day

November 5, 2010

Prescription drugs now off the street

Due to the severity of the prescription drug access and usage among teens in the Upper Bucks Areas and the grave concern for misuse and abuse of medication loose in our neighborhoods, Upper Bucks Healthy Communities Healthy Youth (UBHCHY) Coalition together with justCommunity, Inc. has scheduled a second Prescription Drug Take-Back day for Saturday, November 13, 2010. The first ever nationwide Prescription Drug Take-Back event was held on Saturday, September 25, 2010.

The original concept for a Drug Take-Back Day was conceived at a Drug Free Communities Workshop in Washington, DC in September 2009. Ray Fox, UBHCHY Director, was in attendance and learned that other Pennsylvania counties and states across the US are already invloved in facilitating Prescription Drug Take-Back programs and had seen enormous success in retrieving drugs from the street and away from teenagers.
